All,
I'm installing a dual exhaust system in my '66 convertible. I had the frame rails replaced, but unfortunately there are no holes drilled in the new frame rails for the tail pipe bracket bolts back by the tie down brackets. Does anyone know the exact location of where these holes should be drilled? I've seen pictures which show them about two inches ahead of the rear shackle mount behind the tie down brackets, but it would be a guess about how high/low in the rail. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Heem,
I took some measurements for you from my 66GT Fastback along with a couple pics.
Hope this helps....
Pic#1; This is on the passenger side looking up at the outside of the frame rail. You can see the tailpipe hanger bolted. If you measure from the front edge of the spring shackle, it's 3" and 2" up from the bottom of the frame rail.
Pic#2: In case you need this, look to the right of the first bolt and see a bolt hole throught the frame. That one measres out at 6 3/4" from the edge of the shackle; 2" up.
Those bolt holes were where the tie down brackets were mounted.....during shipping, the car was chained at those points
Hope this helps........

Guys,
Thanks for your help. The pictures and measurements are great.
Now the real fun begins, trying to drilling the holes up there.
Thanks again

If you haven't installed your gas tank, drilling the holes may not be too difficult......just saying
