Tach installed...im running 3k rpms going about 45-50... im not sure of my mph because my speedo needs to be calibrated
Get a gps speedo app for a phone, need accurate data to decide if its slipping.
Is the oil level still correct? I once had a car that had no external gearbox leaks, and would still lose oil and start slipping, turned out that it was sucking the oil through the modulator, and burning it through the engine.

I'm confused, I thought tall gears were a low numerical number like 2.90 and short gears were high like 4.30?

Yeah, 3.73s are pretty tall for a C4. I've got 3.50s and they were too tall for a C4. She would scream on the highway trying to run 80MPH with everyone else.
I have the same problem. I have found that the 'tall or short' definition depends on who you are talking to. It is better just to give the actual ratio.
and 3k rpm @ 50 mph is too high an rpm. you have to have 3.73's or above. How do you drive on the freeway at >60 mph?
I grew up with rear ratios of 3.27, 3.54. 3.78, 4.11. & 4.44. Boy have times changed.
I agree with that ! I got 3.80 with t5 trans and first and second gear are quite ridiculus , seems to ride an old truck for heavy wheight , 1 and 2 just to move .
3 / 4/ 5 gears are ok but for my ride on highway the 3.80 is revving too high at 80 mph
I need to have low revs at same 80
Next winter i will change the rear axle ratio for a longer ( as i can understand ) one. maybe 3.27 / 3.54.
Using original rim and 205/ 70/14 tire so pretty stock
