The newer Mustangs with 302 s in them have metal pipes instead of rubber hoses. Has anyone done the conversion to that. What was needed to do it? What would be the pros and cons? Just thinking.

It neatens up th engine compartment but may not be a "drop in". The connection to the heater stubs at the firewall may not be friendly...we used a cut-down piece of a Fox molded hose in this area on the Falcon project. You will also need the special manifold bolts with a stud on top to mount the tubes. And, there is a fitting up front for the EFI Engine Coolant Temp sensor that will need to be plugged...I think that is a standard 1/4" pipe fitting so it shouldn't be a problem.

I want to do the tubes on my car too. It looks a lot better. A few people here have done it and there are pics if you search. It’s a nice improvement IMO.

The metal pipes are still available from Ford, as well as the aftermarket. Here's a link to LMR's page with them:

Another option to just get the hoses off the intake manifold is to strap them to the shock tower braces ala certain hipo models:
That's what I did and I cut my strap out of an old radiator hose.

The 70 Boss302 had steel tubes also. I have one of the Fox 5.0 tubes modified slightly to fit my Windsor.

Looking into running something to clean up the heater hoses....Wonder if anybody is making anything .

I tried to use the later year model pipes. The one that threads into the manifold. The other pipe turns away from the water pump too much for my liking. I ended up with one for a Boss 302. I turned it over and flipped it up side down to get it to fit. I also had to cut off the tab that secures it to the valve cover to make it fit to my satisfaction. The hoses hold to in place. It comes in shinny steel but got water stained and started to rust. I painted it black. I used two short s hoses at the firewall to clean up the installation and put the heater valve in between one of th hoses.

Pics would be awesome.
