Bought a new ignition switch and key insert. Looks the same as old parts. I push the key insert in. Turn all the way to the right to start. It pushes in until its flush and try to turn to the left and it wont turn. I've jiggled it done everything except throw it out the window...LOL Am I missing something here? Checked a couple of you tube videos and it looks like I'm doing it right. There motorcraft parts. Thanks Steve69

My 66 does the same thing, and I am confident it is installed correctly. My thinkng is the key is just a little off making it hang up when trying to get ACCESSORY position. Some day I will replace it, but the doors are matched to it.

Yes my doors match the ignition too. So Id have 3 Keys. I'm going to buy a set that's together and cross my fingers.

I had a problem getting it in...2 days I messed with it but only shortly as it wasn't priority ..the cylinder was going in kinda crooked.. when I spent more time on it..i noticed some metal pieces weren't bent well sticking out a little...I took a file to it and did just a little...after with a little more determination and force I got it in and all is good...

Just a tip related to 67-73 keys. You can cut one side of the key for the ignition and the other side of the same key for the doors, or even for a different car. I ground a notch in the top of the key big end so the notch was UP when going in the ignition. The notch would point down for reference when opening the door. That way you just need one key for ignition and doors, or two different cars.
