Well I for one will admit to have saved thousands just buying out of state. Guess I can expect to pay an additioinal 8.25% on all my purchases from here on out. Oh well, all things must come to an end.

DE an NH have no sales tax. There are others. We get salty when that topic comes up. There's just something that goes all the way back to the founding of our nation about taxes levied on goods that makes me see red.
On the other hand, I'm reminded of something Andrew Jackson said: "The court has made their decision, now let's see them enforce it."

States will just start suing any business that doesn't comply. It will suck for retailers that will now have to keep track and send quarterly payments to 48 states.
Ultimately this will be good for the few remaining brick and mortar stores. You combine free shipping w/ no sales tax and I could pretty much county on 10-15% discount just shopping online versus going down to the local autozone. My only major purchase remaining is a ~$700 exhaust kit. Guess I can plan on spending $50 more than I was hoping.

I agree about brick and mortar stores. I want them to stay in business, so I am willing to pay more. Particularly my local Mustang/Parts & hardware stores, where I can get advice as well as parts. I get my tires from a local family owned tire store rather than Tire Rack or one of those chain tire stores.
As to sales tax - I knew it would happen some day. Gov't has been gnawing at that taxing hole for years. It was good while it lasted.

I like that Jackson guy.
And who decided it was the duty of a business to collect all of the taxes involved to fork over to the gov'ment? I can't wrap my brain around that one.

In Oz, the sales tax is collected federally, not at the state level, so we've never had the outa state mail order thing.
As of July 1st we don't have any international exemptions either. Our government expects your business's to collect and remit the tax to our government.
NPD has already ceased sales of less than $1000 to Oz.
The 10 percent tax applies to the goods, new or used, and the freight.

The Good: Only president to preside over a country with ZERO national debt. He had to be physically restrained from beating a would be assassin who's pistols both misfired. Decorated war hero who thumped the Brits at the Battle of New Orleans (War of 1812) where despite being severely outnumbered, his men inflicted lopsided casualties to an extent never again equaled.
The Bad: That quote is in reference to his desire to dispossess the Cherokee of their land and ship them to Oklahoma territory, in what has become known as the Trail of Tears. The Cherokee actually won their case with the Supreme Court. Jackson moved them anyway. That's why some native owed businesses, even casinos, will not take or dispense $20 bills. Ironically, Jackson himself had an adopted son who was native, but died of disease.
Like most great men he was one of both good and bad, and contradiction.

Another example of how elections (and Supreme Court nominations) matter.
