A note to my FYI family.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!!  I am very grateful for all the monetary donations and prayers that have been directed toward me. A more personal thank you will follow to convey my appreciation.

Unbeknownst to me and my wife, we just learned yesterday that a Go Fund Me page was setup on my behalf for this catastrophic illness. (Guess I drew the short wrench at the Christmas party last year.
While I have not made a post about it, a couple of slick wrenches (BB) have been working behind the scenes here to facilitate this movement.

I have been diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma Cancer. It is called a "Double hit mutation", which is a more specific type under Large B-Cell lymphoma. It is very aggressive so while I am at stage one, I am being treated like it is at stage 3 & 4. My doctor wants to try and get this stuff put in neutral. Unfortunately, I have not responded as well to the Chemo treatments as he would have liked and we will be setting an appointment with a bone marrow harvesting team. This stuff is putting up a real fight but I still plan to make cancer live with me instead of me living with cancer, but I do feel like I have been run over by a big block for sure.

While I have always known that if you have your health, you really do have everything, this saying rings even truer to me now. I’m grateful to have my loving wife, three kidds  & family by my side, backed up by a group of true friends that are really the cream of the crop.

Staying true to the forum board rules, this was to be the summer that my brother and I finally tore the coupe apart to redo the cowl and floor pan. Been stock piling parts for years now. I wanted to do it now while I was still in good shape and still a spry 55 year old. But I guess the joke was on me.  Look forward to next year to make that happen.

If my schedule stays true on the chemo regime, I should still be able to make the bash this year. Can’t let MustangSteve edge me now.

Thanks again! With the Lord, family and friends, I am not fighting this alone.

Regards,
Glen

Re: A note to my FYI family.

Glen-bob,
When we spoke a few weeks ago, you said you were going to kick cancers arse........I'm holding you to that promise.  In the meantime, the rest of us can do what we can through prayers, cards, words of encouragment and contributions to help you get throught this.  Keep the faith my brother.......lean on us when needed...that's what big families are for....

Re: A note to my FYI family.

Glen, I have no doubt you've got this. If There is anything Marsha and have learned this past year is that there are a lot of caring loving people in the medical profession that are hell bent on beating this. You will be constantly in our thoughts.

Re: A note to my FYI family.

We are all pulling for you, Glen. My prayer is for you to pull through this in fine fashion and then use the gofundme collection for a new engine for the coupe.

There have been new cancer treatments developed in the last few years that have totally whipped cancer in some people. Hopefully something comes along that will do the same for you.

Just don’t let the docs get any WYAIT ideas along the way.

Best of luck, my friend.

Re: A note to my FYI family.

We spoke last night and you know how I feel, Glen.  And, you know how much I want you to beat this,
I have said before that I feel truly blessed to be part in this fine group and everyone on this forum should feel the same way.  Absolutely the finest group of sisters and brothers ever assembled and you, Glen, are one of those who made it so.
You'll wup it, my friend.  Down in Texas this has just gotta be a puney little thing.

Re: A note to my FYI family.

My prayers go out to you and your family.  We've never met, but as BB said, this is a great community, and one that clearly pulls together in times of joy and in times of trial.  I lost my Dad, my favorite grandmother, and my godmother to cancer.  I pull for anyone to beat it, but especially for an FYI brother.

Glen,
We have never met, but after reading your story, all of my day to day issues became insignificant and I am refocused on enjoying each and every moment. My prayers will be for you and your family.

Prayers out to you!   I hope you take this fight head on and beat it like an old Chevelle with an exhaust leak!

Re: A note to my FYI family.

Glen - you beat me twice at the BB spark plug changing contest. If you can do that - then beating cancer will be a snap! You got this!
