    67 GTA S code

    I have entered into a contract to purchase a 67 GTA 390 Coupe. Not the most desirable Mustang in existence but this one is close to being a survivor. Interior has been refreshened along with a aging respray. The only mechanical defect I could find is that the radiator be leaking.

    If all goes well we should show up in Glen Rose for the Bash in the new to us S Code GTA coupe.

    Glad ya got it Gary! A non smogged 390 ... whats not ta like.
    I've sorta managed to learn a bit about later build 67 S code A/C hardtops.
    Any questions, ask away .... hell, I might even know the answer.

    Ouch, I guess I resemble that remark!!

    I’m getting there Bob. Never would have thought it would take so long to bolt a car back together. I was planning on taking it for an inspection sticker Friday. After talking with Coupe Daddy, it may not be needed if I go with antique license plates.

    Nah, 445.  Survival Motorsports by Gary Robotnick sells a kit.  The real 427s were a big bore/short stroke engine designed for high RPM racing.  You can't bore a 390 enough (they used different cylinder cores in the various size FE engines and the 390 just doesn't have enough meat) to get to a 427 bore.  You could install a 428 crank (same as the 410 used in some Lincolns too) and create a 428, which was a longer stroke, smaller bore engine very, very well suited to low end torque and was a street (and strip) killer.  BUT, cubes are king IMO and I'd go to the 445.  OF course the heads won't flow enough to make real power, and you'll want a roller cam...

    Hey, just build the engine I really want for my '67 but don't want to afford right now.  I can give you a whole parts list
