hi all ,
finally the new rad is on my mustang . A little piece of battery support must be cut to center the new rad . in the middle . No cut to radiator frame sheet metal was needed , only 4 new hole for fixers .
Inlet and outlet was correctly on pass side also if this model was described for 66 galaxie.
The fan spacer needed to be reduced about 1/2 inch in height.
Now is very close to rad , but with enough space to be safe . The electric fan previously add is removed due to lack of space .
This afternoon was a cloudy day with only 90 f , but i need a ride to test average temp with and without AC .
The new thermostat at 160 was surely better than 195 f old one.
With new rad , i got 167 f quite offen and 190 f with ac on . Finally seems i have solved the overheating issue ,

Glad it worked out for you.
190-200 is a better operating temperature than 167.
I'd rethink the idea of the 160 thermostat.
But still glad it works.

Completely agree. 167 is too cool. You'll wear the engine out in 2/3 the time of running it at 190.

Yep. Italy's definitely on my list of places to visit. Once the kids get a little older I'm taking some long delayed European vacations. Gotta hit Deutschland first to visit the Schwarzwald, the home of meine ancestors. After that though the next one may well be Italy. I am a tiny bit Italian as well.

Beautiful. Spent some time in Italy back in the 60s and 70s courtesy of the U.S. Navy. Naples, Rome, Toronto and Gaeta. Lovely place.

My grandfather spent some time in Salerno is '43. Suffice to say it didn't go well, but he did come home with a purple heart and a distinguished service medal. His aircraft is still there on the bottom of the Med somewhere, probably not too far from a Bf109 he shot down during the engagement.
My Dad went sometime in the early '70s and had a MUCH better time

Ok ... if the thermostat is low grade is simply to upgrade . but now i am on a good starting point !
happy now !

You might want to consider a schroud for safety and even better cooling. Glad you solved your overheating issue.

Yes, a 160 degree thermostat is too cool. I would change to a 180 and see how it cools. I run a 180 and no issues with overheating, even on days when I drove it to see how hot is would get with outside temperatures of about 98 degrees and high humidity.

I totally agree with this statement. A shroud greatly increases the efficiency of the fan.

A colder running engine doesn't just wear the engine quicker.
Way back when I was younger and dumber than I am now, I tried (successfully),to keep temps on an English 4 cylinder Kent engine around 170.
The oil kept getting thicker and sludgier.
Found out that the oil temp in the sump needs to be a minimum of 212 to boil off the water in the oil that occurs naturally from condensation in the crankcase. The water vapour then gets sucked out the PCV.
Go and enjoy your scenery, it looks beautiful.
