Mr. and Mrs. BB's Excellent Adventure...

Jean and I left home on Aug. 8 for our fiftieth anniversary celebration trip (was going to go to Ur-up but they wouldn't let me take my .45).  Been to the Black Hills and saw all the guys at Rushmore including more Harleys than I could believe were ever produced.  Then went to the UP of Michigan and visited with Josh-k-bob and Tanya.  Saw Tahquamenon Falls (pretty darn nice) also went to Mackinac Island and got a T-shirt from the Mustang Ranch....ah, no, that's somewhere else.  Got the T-shirt from the Mustang Grill.  Neat place and excellent food.

Then we went to Southern Michigan and visited with Bob C and Cindy.  Girls went shopping, Bob and I sipped a little and went shooting and for a cruise in his 66 Coupe...not in that order.  And they fed us really well. I gotta say that Jean and I were both impressed with the area and rural towns in Michigan.  Very clean, good roads, no graffiti and the dumpy parts are very well hidden as we never saw them.

On our way to Niagara we stopped by and had dinner with Wsinsle (Walt) and Brenda.  Had to make it brief visit but did get to see their Mustang and 67 Fairlane...I am soooooooo jello!  Hope we get to see them at a bash again soon.

Now we are in the Niagara, NY area.  Went and saw the falls from every angle yesterday and today I had a special birthday present.  Went over to Lockport and visited my old Model A Boat-Tailed Speedster that I built back in '74.  Rick Macintosh (ex of Mac's Antique Auto Parts) is the present owner and is taking very good care of it.  The PO and he have made some proper modifications and have run it four or five times in the History Channel Great Race.  This year they finished 9th overall and first in the Sportsman class.  Rick was very gracious and not only took me for a ride but also allowed me to get a little "stick time" in.  Really brought back a lot of memories, I had forgotten just how much torque a Riley Four-Port "B" could deliver.

So now we are off to New England.  Will try to check in from time to time.  Wish we could make the Bash but I'm afraid we'll be somewhere near Manassas, VA then.

I tried to post some pix of all the Mustangers we visited but Tinypic was certain they had to be laying down....Go figger.

When I built the car I had a gennie 36 Ford banjo wheel on it.  That one is a break-away (to allow ingress and egress) wheel that was made way back in the day right there in Lockport, NY where he lives.  Pretty cool piece.

Re: Mr. and Mrs. BB's Excellent Adventure...

If you're in New England, this weekend is the Lime Rock Park historic festival. Really great vintage racing. That is in Lakeville Connecticut - the northwest corner of Connecticut. It's a really pretty area. good luck on your trip!

My bad, Rudi.  It was Novi Rick that Bob C was trying to contact while we were in Michigan.  Butt (TS&T) I could have hooked up with you while we were in Niagara if'n I had my head scrxewed on straight.  Very sorry, that would have been very cool.

Re: Mr. and Mrs. BB's Excellent Adventure...

Sorry Sal, the 68 is not making the trip south this year. The Mustang just can’t carry the beach supplies and  a months worth of staples plus my insurance won’t let me use it as a daily driver.
