Fresh radiator.

Hello Mustangers! If you tried to buy wax lately you noticed that the hot new item is a spray wax. I have a new radiator and I'd like to take care of it. Wondering does anyone use any sort of spray wax or something to spray your radiator help keep bugs from clinging to it?

Re: Fresh radiator.

BTW I didn't like the spray wax unless it's good for the radiator

Re: Fresh radiator.

I would think the wax would just melt right off the radiator and not stay around  very long.  PAM on the other hand would probably work very well.  Old 4 wheeling trick, hose everything down with PAM and the mud and grime rinses right off after you're done wheeling.

Re: Fresh radiator.

I put a new radiator in my 67 and noticed when I did it that there was about 3/8 of an inch gap just in front of the fins. I measured the opening and had my local Ace Hardware guy make a custom screen to fit. I painted it black to match the framework, and it slides in and out really easily. I pull it out every once in a while and vacuum off the bugs and cottonwood seeds. The screen cost me $25 and keeps the fins spotless. I don't know if all Mustangs have that gap in there, but it sure works great for that bug screen.

It's easier to add horsepower than it is to lose weight.

Re: Fresh radiator.

My tractor has a screen like that.  Keeps the radiator from packing up with grass, dirt, etc.  Good idea!
