I'm planning to install an American Auto Wire harness in my 67 Fastback.
I'm going to buy a set of their crimping tools to hopefully make things go smoothly
Any tips from anybody using the harness ?
I'm also looking for input on what would be a good set of wire strippers.? I have seen the auto adjusting ones and they seem to sound like a great tool to use and speed things up? If you have had good luck with these could you recommend a brand ?

I used these for a lot of years when I was working as an electrician.
Should be able to pick up a pair at Home Depot or Lowes.

I have a pair similar to these that I've been using for over 50 years. The work very well, although, I did have to replace one of the jaw screws that fell out during the Falcon Project last year so "long term" reliability may be an issue....LOL.
I helped Corky figure out his AAW harness. Their "wiring diagram" bears considerable study before doing anything, IMO. Also, I would mount all hardware and route and lightly bundle each harness break-out before cutting anything to length. And, study what's provided as far as relays and circuit protection. You may want or need to add something before you start.
From what I can tell, their's is similar to Painless....which, I'm told, ain't.
If you don't have good sources for such things as harness wrap, loom, heat shirnk tubing, etc you can pm me with your email addy and I'll be glad to send my list of suppliers.

I Installed an AAW harness in my 64.5 vert. I had done some wiring before but never wired an entire car from scratch. The AAW kit was a bit time consuming to install- with most of the time spent figuring out what was what in the box, studying the excellent diagrams and instructions they provided and then figuring out where to run everything- but once everythig was sorted and I figured out where I wanted to run the wires, the actual install was VERY easy.
You should start by lying the whole harness out on a table so you can follow the different branches and circuits and see what you will need v what you know you won't be using.
There are at least two very excellent write-ups with tons of helpful pictures out there- one on VMF and one on CJ Pony’s site- that are very helpful and give you an excellent road map on completing the project.
I would use an AAW kit in the next car I do without hesitation, and I could probably complete the install in a day or two next time.
I bought their crimpers and, while pricey, they worked very well and IMO were worth the money. For strippers, I just used the cheap-o strippers that have been in my box forever and they were fine. There really aren't that many wires in kit that you need to strip and put connections on.

I recently purchased from Amazon Klein Tools, "Katapult" #11063W wire stripper and am quite pleased with it.

I've had to do a massive amount of wiring installing a Megasquirt and Microsquirt in my Lightning. These have been awesome and versatile.
