when putting in new convertible interior rear quarter foam and upholstery? Any tips and tricks appreciated. Tony

3M 08080 spray adhesive used to work well for me, but I think it's quality has deteriorated a little in the last few years. It doesn't seem to hold a long as I think it used to.

3M makes a couple different spray contact adhesives. Possibly they have reformulated and now the "high strength" one (green can) holds the best whereas the red one doesn't. On the other hand, possibly environmental regulations over VOCs have neutered it the way they've neutered almost everything else. Ever notice how poorly Brake Kleen performs now vs. ten years ago?

Thanks! I appreciate the info.

The 3M spray adhesives will generally work ok if the instructions are followed but if I really want a contact type cement to work I always choose "Original" DAP brand, WeldWood Contact Cement. NOT THE WATER-BORN STUFF!! Depending on where you live you may not be able to buy this product locally. Here in Colorado we still can but I don't expect that to last too long now that we are trying to out-californicate California.
This is a brush-on product but if you follow the instructions more or less it works. I use it to hold down the Masonite surface on all my work benches and I've used it for years on various vehicle upholstery projects.

Gumout 2+2 still maintains the original formulation, and works the best. I can't buy it by the case though.

Thanks BB!
