Routing clutch cable

I have installed the MS cable clutch kit on my 65 and was hoping someone could post some pictures on how to route the cable down to the bell housing. I tried several sets of shorty headers and they all sucked...none would fit without "massaging" so I installed a set of FPA long tubes and they fit incredibly. Just need to find the best routing of the clutch cable to protect from the heat. Plan to also wrap the cable as an added measure.

Re: Routing clutch cable

Excellent question. This is the next project on my list now that my headers are installed.

Re: Routing clutch cable

Mine loops almost around the oil filter then heads rearward.  I monkeyed with the power steering lines until I was happy with what went where since they all occupy some of the same space.

Only issues I had were under the dash.  I had to move some stuff around to keep the cable from interfering with it when in use.

Re: Routing clutch cable

Typicall frm rhe firewall, nder the export brace, around the oil filter and then along the oil pan flange. Depending on header position,  sometimes you may need to add, or reposition, the bracket to hold the cable away from the exhaust.

Re: Routing clutch cable

What length cable are you using?

The kit I bought had following:

Cable sheath = 45.5”
Cable adjustable to end of threads = 59.5”

Measurements are approximate.
Asking cause mine failed last night.

Re: Routing clutch cable

Nos681, the new cable is 12” longer in the housing and the wire. It works much better than the earlier Fox cable you have.
