Progress update

Drilled and tapped my thermostat housing for the temp sensor for electric fans.  Drilled out ok but apparently didn't tap it perfectly straight. Seemed to be going in straight until I get well in to the hole then it was apparent not completely straight.  Have goo threads in it and not really noticeable once sensor is tightened down and it does tighten up fine. I know I need either Teflon past or thread tape but of course that goes against what the sensor people tell you.  If it leaks then I will just try and pick one up that's already tapped.

I also ran my 3/8" SS line from my mechanical fuel pump up to the carb fitting directly to a billet inline filter attached to my dual line.  This is pretty clean install at least I think so. Ran the line under the thermostat housing the up and directly in to the filter.  No rubber lines and hose clamps and the carb will be easy to remove just by unthreading one AN fitting nut.

Re: Progress update

Still need to mount my MSD 6AL box. Any recommendations on a good location ?  prefer to not make it a focal point.  Right now leaning towards the driver side lower fender apron below where the windshield washer tank will go.

Re: Progress update

Mount it somewhere where its easy to change.  I've had terrible luck with the 6ALs over the years.  Two different ones went in less than 10k miles.  By contrast I've had the same 6A in three different vehicles and it still fires every time.  No idea why that is.

Car's looking great BTW!

Re: Progress update

Did you use a pre-bent fuel line, cut off the flared end by the carb and use a hardline to AN adapter or did you bend the fuel line from scratch?

Re: Progress update

I bought a roll of 3/8" SS line from Inline Tube.

Used an Eastwood tubing straightener to get it straight then used my Mastercool to double flare to fit the fuel pump.  The flaring was a piece of cake. Used the tip I got from MS last week to use a flaring tool to use as a guide to file flat.  The bending of the line was a bit of pain.

I then used a Jeggs line to AN adapter that uses a little ferule.  This connects directly to a billet inline filter that fits to my dual line using AN fittings.

The positive is no rubber hose or hose clamps and easy removal with one AN nut.

Thanks BB I'll look in to the copper rtv.

Re: Progress update

Mounting you MSD...........is your battery in the trunk?!
If so...I put mine in the vacant battery compartment. Made a little "jack-leg" cover for that area and put the coil in there too. Fit surprisingly well and the "stuff" is well hidden.

Re: Progress update

6Sally6, No my battery is going to be in engine compartment. I debated putting in the trunk and since I have the space for it up front decided to just keep it there.
