Owning one and having owned the other, I can confidently say they are both a blast! those Minis can really corner and with an 1100cc-1300cc engine they will do well over 100. I used to regularly beat most any sports car of the era. I owned mine around 1963.

I'm reminded of the episode of Top Gear where they beat a Lamborghini with a Lancer EVO. Acceleration is great, but on a tight course being able to grip the road like a slot car matters a lot more. I guarantee my WRX would spank my Mustang on a track. I took down ZO6 Vettes, Porches, Audi S4s, and a lot of other cars that were faster on paper, but couldn't grip the road as well, or scared their drivers too much trying to grip the road. A car that grips, that's confidence inspiring, and just never seems to be beyond its limit no matter how hard you push it is a truly awesome thing.

You know I loved it. I have one of each.
