Well we did it, loaded the 65 up and left Portland and drove to Vegas, then I-40 to Nashville and over to Erwin NC. then took a short drive to Myrtel Beach. Met Mike and saw the Sun come up for the first time. That was pretty cool. On the way back to NC my 80amp fuse installed inline with the dash circuit failed and left me dead on the road. Called AAA and while waitting for the truck a guy drove by and came back to see if I was OK. He had a 2012 cobra and a Tee shirt with cars on it about my age. He asked me if he could help and asked where they were going to tow me. I told him and said I just need to get off the HWy so I can look and fix, he said I wouldnt go to that shop AAA picked and told me to tow it to his house, he said he had everything and a lift. My gut said this is a nice guy and I figured if it was a bad move I would just tell the tow driver to keep going. We loaded the car up and I put the wife with the tow driver. I jump in and found it was a 2012 limited 800HP with 30K on it. When we got close to his house I knew I had made the right call. Nice clean housing track with sidewalks. he also has a Roush mustang that is limited next to a nice new Harley. When we got there the nabiors were hanging out ready to help push the car into his garage. He set up a fan, gave me H2O and put the wife up inside with the AC. He said if you dont figure this out I will put you up in my 30' 5th wheel in back and we will fix it in the AM. I found the problem, The darn fuse had set screws for the wires but the fuse it self was friction set. I by passed it with a jumper and we were back on the road. Thank you Oscer from SC, real southern hospertality.
Spent almost 2 weeks in NC then drove up to Pennsulvania to see a friend then drove I 84 west stopping at Mt rushmore and then 3 days in Montana with more family. Were home now
30 days, 7500 miles, 430 gals of Reg gas avg 17 mpg and now my newly rebuilt 289 with Holley sniper has 10K and is broke in now.
