Seems that life got in the way for a while, So I pulled the motor out and tore it down, 4 lifters wiped out and about 4 more on the way, same with cam lobes. Took it back to machine shop, bearings all had slight signs of floating debris in them, oil pump was trashed. looks like crank can be saved. The real kicker is the instructions that the cam company gave us was a little out of date, so the oil they recommend has since been reformulated and did not contain any zinc additives, so another one of life lessons. I told them i'm in no hurry to get motor back so for now its on the back burner. Did put another 900 miles on the 66 pony last week, That flat tappet 298 now has 72,000 miles on it and still running strong.I did that one in 2009

Haven't heard back from machine shop yet, Im sure they will make it right, and no I'm old school, the 66 pony has a little old 4 barrel on it, sweet and simple. 23 to 22 mpg on the highway doing 70, 2200 RPMS, No chips, controllers and wire harnesses to get in the way.just one little wire to the coil.
