Well, they recently sent me replacement power steering pump (3rd one). All of them leak through a design flaw in the cap’s vent. I am working on a fix for it, but prototype #5 still seeps. Cheap crap, and Summit sells the exact same Gen II GM pump.
But the latest, as of today, at about 4,000 total miles on this engine, is the THIRD water pump failure, except this time water was pouring out both weep holes and I was almost 100 miles from home. I bought a five gallon gasoline container and a gallon of coolant, filled both of them full of water along with the radiator (leaking out about as fast as I could fill it) and headed out with the cap not secured. I made it twenty miles and repeated the fill process. It was leaking bad and screeching like crazy.
I felt rewarded to make it home.
I think caused by the back of the serpentine belt going around the water pump pulley rubbing on the back of the belt as it comes around the crank pulley. Evidenced by noise and the label on the belt getting abraded. Of course, CVF has never heard of this being a problem.
That entire POS system is going to get replaced with stock Ford parts.
So, now I am going to start an entire new bash thrash on the 66..
Thinking about just driving the damned Kia.
