The unstable steering on my 66 has been cured with new wheel bearings (both sides a little loose, installed in 2010) and welding the mount solid where the inner tie rods bolt to the rack & pinion center bar. One mount had a little play. Been meaning to get to that weld job since replacing that tie rod in Steve Buzek’s shop at the Tomball Bash in 2013.

QC check after driving, using a laser thermometer, showed 115 to 120 degrees at the hubs of all four of the rotors. (So no RPM torque settings were used)

I installed a new mega-fuse block and fuse between the alternator and solenoid. That cured my burning electrical smell and eliminated the melted plastic fuse holder. The fuse body had melted along with the holder, apparently from a weak connection. The new mega fuse uses 5/16” studs to attach the fuse to the wire.

Bako or bust!!

Money you enjoy wasting is NOT wasted money... unless your wife finds out.
