I believe typically in a dual fan system only one would come on. I'm not sure how the Contour system works in a factory application. Probably its computer controlled and the computer can do all kinds of things to keep the engine temperature in line (run one fan unless temp gets to high then bring in the second one, etc.). I'd also be interested to hear from folks on here who are running that setup how they staged the fans.
My original thought was to turn one fan on for AC and the other to turn on based on temperature. But I guess I would have to jumper the second fan to come on with temperature too, just in case the AC isn’t on. Looks like I need to research it a little more.
There are a couple different ways you can wire them. I built my own controller with relays, and the only thing I wish I had was a way for it to automatically correct for outside ambient temp. I think the Autocoolguy controller may be better in that regard. One thing to consider is that I use a lot of ground triggering (so do OEMs nowadays). Its fairly easy to have multiple paths to ground for the relay(s) without fear you are going to energize something that shouldn't have power, because you aren't switching power.
