Re: Rechrome vent windows or buy new?

Try this guy for chrome Omar     1 619 948 3239.

Thats what my Uncle sent me.  I communicated via text messages with Omar and paid him through PayPal and since my uncle knows the guy I did send it friends and family. Omar had it boxed and sent a tracking number before I even sent payment.

Re: Rechrome vent windows or buy new?

I was able to pick up the vent window I needed. Took half the day to go get it but I can try to put the frames back together now.

Re: Rechrome vent windows or buy new?

I can’t find the rivits that hold the SS piece to the window frame.  I also need to check on what the thickness is of the seal for the vent window glass.  I forgot which thickness I ordered and never checked what I need.  I could need both thicknesses since I picked up a window frame that I don’t know what year it came from.  Even if I knew the year NPD states one needs to see what they have before ordering.

I did get the seals riveted to the SS piece and got the old parts all cleaned up.  I think I’ll order new vertical pieces that press fit into the SS piece since they come with new seals.

Re: Rechrome vent windows or buy new?

Finally got the vent windows put back together.  It’s not a bad job but did take me some time since it was my first time rebuilding vent windows.   I could knock a set out in no time now.

For the two rivets that hold the divider bar I decided to use 6/32 counter sink hardware.  I counter sink the frames and I put a nice counter sink on the divider as well.  The divider is a pretty hard material.  The extra counter sink in the divider bar made it easier to bend or drive the material on the divider bar into the counter sink I made in the frame mounting holes.  I think it turned out pretty good.

Re: Rechrome vent windows or buy new?

Vent window frames are installed.  Not adjusted but they’re in the doors. Missing two of the large washer nuts.  I’ll order a couple when I order more of the strip stuff for the rear side window glass.  I didn’t order enough to do the vent windows and the rear side glass.

Re: Rechrome vent windows or buy new?

Nice result! Are you happy with it?
It's a bit hard to tell in the photos, but is there a slight gap between the vent window frame and the door? It looks similar to what I had when I fitted the reproductions on my car.
Also, what's the seal like around the vent window lock? Does the metal on each side of the glass spread apart when you open the lock?

Re: Rechrome vent windows or buy new?

The top pivot of the vent windows usually needs some help with a bit of lubricant once in a while. I have a small  hypodermic filled with light oil and work the vent back and forth to get some lube up in there.
I gave the bottom pivot and pressure spring a healthy dose of lithium grease when installed the vent frame.
All that seems to make the vent open and close with not too much pressure on the lock lever attachment.

The frames are just sitting in the doors.  Nothing is adjusted yet.

Re: Rechrome vent windows or buy new?

Yesterday I got both rear quarter windows torn down and rebuilt.   Installed both and they are loosely adjusted.  I did have the drivers side quarter window installed and had to remove it to rebuild it.  Thought it would be ok and of course I could cut a corner and had to do it right.  I also installed the passenger side door glass.  I installed the self sticking felt in the door glass track.  I had the felt that you glue it but wasn’t happy with it.  The self adhesive stuff is much better.  I didn’t take a picture of those parts.

No mustang work today.  I had to clean and wash the trucks today, mow the lawn and some other house stuff I’ve been putting off.
