1965 Engine Mount Bracket Orientation

I have the early 64-65 three piece engine mounts.  The mounts that attach to the engine are Anchor 2221 (right) and 2220 (left).  My question is about the middle pieces, which have no markings and can be used on either side.  However, switching them from side to side will move the engine forward or backward about 1/2" as these pictures show:

Anyone know which way they go?

BTW, some interesting things I discovered are that the engine has the cast bosses for the mounts offset so the left one is about 1" to the rear.  This is apparently compensated for by the cast frame mounts (the third part of the mounts) being offset in the opposite direction.  Also, someone on another post had written that the 2220 and 2221 Anchor mounts were the same from side to side except for the rubber.  Mine are definitely different as  this picture shows:

You can see that the studs are offset slightly.  You will also notice that I also installed bolts through my mounts as per this site: http://www.erareplicas.com/fiaman/engine/mountmod.htm because I can never leave well enough alone.

Re: 1965 Engine Mount Bracket Orientation

The engine mounts (w/rubber) are left and right versions, mine were marked LH and RH.  I do not remember the specifics but it will be obvious how the 3-piece arrangement goes when placed in the engine bay.  I can post pictures of my mounts if you think it would help.

Any help is welcome but I think I know how to put the three piece mounts together except for the arrangement of the middle pieces.  They can be swapped from side to side, still look the same, except for the engine being moved forward or backward.  Any ideas on that?  Thanks.

Re: 1965 Engine Mount Bracket Orientation

The mount with a 0 goes on the drivers side.  The mount with a 1 goes on the passenger side.

If multiple things can go wrong, the one that will go wrong will be the one that causes the most damage.

Thanks - I got that part, it's the middle bracket that's the problem.

Thanks.  I came across that article when I was searching the internet.  It shows the part that is my problem - the insulator assembly bracket (part number 6028 for one side and 6029 for the other), but it doesn't indicate which goes on which side.  Also, I'm pretty sure my insulator brackets are original but neither has any marking on them so I really need pictures or a good description.

Re: 1965 Engine Mount Bracket Orientation

These are the mounts as removed from my 65, these are the original mounts.
Hope this helps.
