Tips and How-To's » inside brake mc (clean firewall) cable throttle,cable/hyd clutch » 10/03/2013 9:37 AM |
this should work on most MUSTANGS i have done this on mk1 68-75 escorts in uk which a are a lot smaller.
use a mk1 mexico/rs/tc peddal box which mounts girling brake cylinders (land rover ,ford, reliant,) to the actual pedal box inside the car with a flex hose running to 1-2-3 small resevoirs 2 for brakes 1 for clutch (more later) using thios also allows use of a bias cable adjuster
austin 1100-1300 mg and riley variants of the u.s austin america use a similar pedal boz that also has been used in mk1-2 escorts kit cars and 105e anglias
you can also buy this part new from various sources inc raldes (rally design) and other european classic ford stores there is also universal kits available from race stores kit car stores and most likley even oval race stores in usa
this comes with use of a cable clutch OR hydraulic if you use 3 cylinders ( 2 for brakes 1 for clutch)
then you will need either a thrust bearing type slave cylinder aftermarket or some factory cars (vauxhall (gm) omegas and others. not sure of u.s varaints) or jap bellhousing mount slave cylinders or others but yoiu may have to mix n match slave to master to get best feel (light/heavy)
i may be able to help with more info and sourcing etc if you need it just p.m me
Tips and How-To's » brake remote fit booster to save room tip » 10/03/2013 9:23 AM |
hi all use of this will allow servo assisted (pas) booster brakes but saves under hood space
having googled some brake upgrades using various boosters (servo,s) i thought i would post this.
various cars came with a remote booster in europe i am not sure about in usa but you CAN still buy these new /used at a very reasonable cost i will try to post up vendors though i allways prefer the junkyard aproach.
hillman imp
sunbeam stilleto, californian (rear engined but booster (servo) mounted in front trunk area nice and clean!)
sunbeam rapier
rover p6
lotus mk1 escort
lotus mk1 cortina
rover p6
hillman hunter? google u.s versions (plymouth cricket?) some of these cars are in usa anyway
reliant scimitar
you can fit this booster anywhere you have more space! (trunk ,inside side of firewall, behind glovebox etc anywhere!) just plumb it into your brakes hydaulic system and vac hose with the basic 2 circuit mc on the firewall
(i have done this and simply shortened the pushrod)
