    A little bit of progress on the new shop

    I have been laid up for a week with the flu, so the only pic I have is through my bedroom window.
    This week they installed new 200’ electrical and water and comm cables, plus installed 200’ sewer lines.
    They got the first 100’ of driveway formed up. It has to get poured before they form up the building.
    At least getting SOMETHING done.

    I would have thought the driveway would be last.   I wouldn't want to have heavy trucks and machinery
    on it and they would have done a great job of packing down the dirt.

    The pic is shot facing north. The shop is way up north. They have to bring the trucks in from the north to avoid driving on the new or existing driveway. The lot is vacant (mine) north of the shop. All trucks will come in from the north, through where the shop will be, to pour the driveway. Once he drive is done, they will frame the parking pad and the shop. Then use a pump truck to pour both, exiting to the north.
    All construction stuff will enter from the north.

    A friend of mine is building a new garage, He ripped down an old building and filled in the basement where he is building. The place has bee a muddy mess. I stopped up yesterday, he had some base put down for the driveway. He said it was a mix of rubber and stone. You walk on it and it's very clean for stone. Never seen that before! 

    If this forum can't fix it, it isn't broke.

    MS,  I think you're sandbagging the updates on the progress.  When I look at the pics, I see blue sky, green trees, and some guys in short sleeves.  Couldn't be January...… (JK, nice progress, hope you're feeling better)

    They did mention on the local news tonight that we had not had a freeze here this January.  Very wild winter!   Cedar trees and live oaks stay green year around.  No excuses for short sleeves.

    That's exciting. I love the foundation and framing stages of construction. What does a yard of concrete go for in Texas these days?

    No idea on concrete price. I have a contract price for the whole project.
    I planned on lots of parking space, even if it is single file.

    The new driveway is 157’ long. It connects to existing driveway near an existing garage door.

    Yes, the electrical and communications conduits are there in the middle of the slab.

    With the shop that distance from the residence, I would be concerned with security. 
    Don't know about you Steve butt at my age I can't run the length of a 1,1/2 football fields very quickly carrying my 12 gauge 3 inch magnum.

    Well almost right,,,  if you take total guns legal
    registered in Texas  there could be 7 total guns per person,,, somebody has a lot of guns,, .
