Buying a set of new Nittos as soon as it will make it to the tire store.
Great minds...
I bought a set of Nitto 555s online from America's Tire/Discount Tire, which are awaiting my arrival at their store around the corner. They price matched the lowest I could find, then lowered each tire by $7.
We'll see how they perform, but they look much better than the Michelins.

I have a set of 255x45/17 rears and 325x45/17 front waiting. That is one size larger than what I have now. If they fit, they will be on the car. If too tight, will revert to the same size as now. 225x45 and 245x45. Tire shop down the road is very good at working with me to fit the sizes I want. $690 for four, installed incl tax.
Buy, now I have to replace the differential again. Apparently STRANGE does not know how to make one that doesn’t sound like an old farm truck.

Just get a locker!! They're suppose to clunk/click/growl soooo then you can't hear the 'farm truck' howl.

Welp, the FMX with new pump, stator, torque converter and valve body kit seems to be working fine... so far.
I also swapped out the noisy 3.50 gears for the old 2.50:1 Bonneville, oops, I mean Ft Walton Beach Bash gears, which are whisper quiet.

Sweet!

Glad you have it back on the road, Bob. Run it up to Modesto or some place and make sure it's gonna hang together.
I resealed the PS pump that started leaking on the Mini-Bash trip to Waco and everything else seems to be working okay. So for an additional winter project I decided to install an AFR gauge to help tune the EFI after the Bash. Also decided to finally get my Rally-Pac shell modified to work with the 68 column and get it installed.
Got a friend with a 3D printer and he fabbed up some custom bezels to mount my tach and AFR gauge.

Roger that. I've got a 500 mile trip this Saturday up to Fremont to shake things down.

The 235x45 front and 255x45 rears were a no-go. Went with 245 and 225. Lots more traction than Michelin !

Went to America's Tire to get the new tars installed. Apparently Flaco in the warehouse can't read and shipped 315 wide rear tires instead of the 275 I ordered. Reading comprehension is hard. They also told they can't mount either the rear 275 nor front 265 on my 8 inch wheels, even though they mounted 275s on my wheels 2 years ago.
So now they'll be sending 245/45 fronts and 255/45 rears.
I did a 250 mile run to Fresno and back yesterday and the FMX with the new pump and valve body mods performed just fine.

Drove the Mach One 500 miles up to Fremont Ca and back yesterday without issue. Tires should be at the shop mañana. Other than tars, I'm good to go. This new cough I've acquired seems odd, I never get sick...
