Engine suggestion for Bullet Bob........

At least you would be keep'in it all Ford and you're familiar with  these from 'the-good-old-days!'
Is there a need to tell some of these "snowflake Millenials" what kind of Ford engine this is?!
Bob......you do the honors!

Re: Engine suggestion for Bullet Bob........

BB could rebuild his hurt motor for the price off those heads. Or buy a complete motor for the price of the blower.

Bob. 69 Mach 1, 393W, SMOD Toploader, Armstrong  steering, factory AC.

Re: Engine suggestion for Bullet Bob........

I know it’s way before my time but it’s a flathead with the Ardun ohv conversion.  Never got to see one.

Bearing Bob...notice you have the SCTA window sticker.😎

Re: Engine suggestion for Bullet Bob........

I was at a cruise-in this weekend, and there was a 36 Ford with a Flathead and Lake pipes, and it sounded so good.

As recent as a couple of years  ago  Ferguson was still  offering  the  ARDUN heads complete  for around $7k.

Lots of guys recognize the ARDUN  heads but how many of you know  what the acronym  stands for.

Re: Engine suggestion for Bullet Bob........

They were created by Zora Arkus-Duntov.  Later the advocate which got a V8 put in the Corvette while working at GM.  Later involved in the Grand Sport program for the Vette as well.  One of the only cars to beat the Cobra, but GM shelved the program due to their mandate against factory racing.  He was one of those guys who knew that young hot rodders were going to drive the market for decades.

A good family friend (Bobby Gold) who ran a business restoring Corvettes many years ago had met Zora, along with pretty much everyone involved in the Corvette, as well as a ton of other guys not just from GM.  He got to know Carrol Shelby while on a cruise.  Shelby had recently had a heart transplant, Bobby had recently had a kidney transplant.  Both were taking the same antirejection drug.  Bobby said they knew that if one or the other lost their pills there was only one other person on that ship who could help.  He even sat in on a meeting of Cobra owners on the cruise.  Guys were referring to each other by chassis numbers, and talking all kinds of technical stuff.  At one point Carrol leaned over to Bobby and whispered "I've got no idea what the hell they're talking about".

Thanks 6sally6, put a smile on my face remembering some good stories and good times from my youth.  Everyone I just wrote about is gone now.  Just another reminder that the good ones are probably throwing an awesome party up in heaven right now.
