Who all is a military veteran?........What years did you do it?

US Navy (SS)  1968-1972   CS (cook) USS Grayling SSN 646   USS Seahorse SSN 669

US Navy 1968-1976 - AD2 (Aviation Machinist's Mate) - active duty (Vietnam) with Heavy Attack Squadron 10 (VAH-10) - Douglas A-3 Skywarrior, served on the USS Hancock, CVA-19, then reserve duty with Patron Squadron 69 (VP-69) - Lockheed P-3 Orion. (Sorry about the giant pic - don't know how to shrink it!!)

USAF - 17 April 1985 to 1 May 2015...Operations Management Officer, RC-135's; Squadron Commander Engineering Installation Squadron (deployed comm); Intel Officer, AWAC's, Chief of Intel, C-130's; Senior Intel Officer, MQ-9 "Predator" Operations....

Ron68.........were you ever a "Shooter"?!  Always looked like a cool job to have....."gee dad what'd you do in the Navy?"   "I was the shooter on a carrier."

I had three buddies from boot camp on the Dalhgren during that time. Rogers,Martin and Miller. They were boilermen.

Thank all you guys for your service.  I did not serve, but come from a Navy family (both grandfathers during WWII one flew a Curtis SOC off the USS Savannah the other trained pilots in Pensacola to fly the SBD).  My wife's family is also a Navy family (father-in-law was on a sub during the Cold War then worked for the DOD).

USAF 1964-1968.  Computer Officer.  My outfit built and maintained all the electronics on all the airbases world wide.  I developed their computer systems.

No Mike, I wasn't a shooter. I was what the shooter shot...... the shooter being the cat officer who signaled for the cat operator to fire the cat after the pilot salutes to signal he is ready for the cat shot. 0 to 150 in 1.8 seconds - quite a ride!

USN-USNR  1973-1979.  USS LaSalle AGF-3 Bahrain and USS Damato DD 871 Newport RI.  Machinist Mate, #1 Engine Room in both.

Pease AFB Portsmouth NH  SAC  509th 
The 509th is the only unit to  drop 2 Nuclear weapons on an enemy,  ending  War II.
Many more stored in bunkers

I also did not serve and would like to thank you all for your service.  I came from a USAF family, my father was a pilot in WWII and several uncles and cousins were USAF members.


65 Fastback, 351W, 5-speed, 4 wheel discs, 9" rear,  R&C Front End.

My grandson is in AD A school right now. He’s going to a F18 Super Hornet squadron.

About the same time my father-in-law was stationed at the Portsmouth Naval Yard.  They live in Maine, but they are like 5 minutes from Portsmouth.  Small world!
