Re: 73 Maverick one owner 13k miles

The Maverick was always cool IMO.  I actually like that whole collection, though I'd probably sell off most of it.

When I was in college there was a green one that prowled around Allentown that sounded great and seemed to be pretty darn quick.  We only ever had sightings of it when neither me or my circle of friends had our vehicles, because we all wanted to run it down and check it out, maybe after a friendly competition...

Re: 73 Maverick one owner 13k miles

Not sure why, but I was never a huge fan of the Mavericks. They are "ok", but I'd take a Mustang over a Maverick every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Although I did really like that maroon Maverick that was on the early seasons of Street Outlaws if any of you watch that. I want to say it was Bobby Ducote's.

Re: 73 Maverick one owner 13k miles

Maverick is nice.

Price is crazy.

But to own a low mileage, one owner car not rusted out.😁

Re: 73 Maverick one owner 13k miles

I watched Dyno Don Nicholson pilot one back in the day......... His had a beautiful undercarriage which the fans saw every time he left the line.
The 427 SOHC engine certainly made a nice package.
Would I swap my Mustang for a Maverick with the same power package???

Re: 73 Maverick one owner 13k miles

That does bring back memories.... I think ours was a 74-74 two door. Mom was taking me with her to work one morning. When we stopped for gas, there was a frog on the roof. What little kid doesn't like frogs. I got him, sat back down on the seat, got bored, wanted to get out, and help pump the gas. What do I do with the frog........ got it ..... put him in the ash tray!! Made perfect since then.

Surprise, surprise, he didn't stay there. When we got in to leave, we were looking at his belly while he sat on the inside of the instrument cover by the speedometer. The frog was removed, still alive, later that morning.

Re: 73 Maverick one owner 13k miles

Its never going to have the appeal of a Mustang, I mean, its a Maverick...

BUT, considering what a lot of Mustangs are bringing these days I don't think I'd be able to get into the hobby with one now the way I did as a teenager in the '90s.

AND, any car that's one owner low mileage is always a sweet ride.  I was driving my great grandmother's '83 Olds 98 in about 1999 and it had 13,000 miles on it.  It was like driving a brand new car.  Like driving down the road on a cloud.  Velour power bench seat and R-12 AC blowing ice cold turning no RPM at 80 thanks to a 2.56 rear gear.  Not fast, but for an interstate cruiser it was very hard to beat.

I like the Mavericks. This is another nice low mileage car that has been calling my name but I got other things to do first.

Re: 73 Maverick one owner 13k miles

My dad had a Torino, can't remember the exact year, but somewhere in that range.  It was before I was born, but apparently he owned it for a year and sold it for exactly what he paid for it.  Then he had a '55 T-Bird he restored when I was really young.  Its interesting now that I think of it, for a Chevy guy he owned a lot of Fords over the years...

Re: 73 Maverick one owner 13k miles

Sometime around 1977 Dad brought home a 72 Maverick. 302 4V automatic. The car was fun, AKA fast. I moved away after that and I have no idea what happened to the quick little Maverick.

Re: 73 Maverick one owner 13k miles

When I got out of the Army in 87 and moved home from Fort Hood I was looking for a winter car.  I came across a 72 Mercury Comet GT for $350.  It was Green had the hood scoops. A little rust on the back fenders.  Had a  302 automatic and man was that a fun car.  It did some awesome donuts in snow.. lol. That is one car I wish I would of kept.  I sold it the next spring for $650.

Re: 73 Maverick one owner 13k miles

Sweet little car for that price.  Needs some go fast parts and a 5 speed, and a swap to the earlier bumpers that tucked in closer, but for $18k all in you'd have one nice sleeper.
