Probably trying to jump on the popularity of the Esso gas tiger tail from "Put a tiger in you tank" back in the day.

Funny, I have one of those Esso Tiger tails hanging up in my basement.  Back in the day, a large Sinclair gas station in our area had a very big 'Dino the Dinosaur' on the roof of the station, and they put a large stuffed tiger hanging from it's mouth.
