Anyone ever buy one of these SS T Stat housings? I went to order one from Summit and it say it would not ship until June so I reached out to the manufacture to see if they stock them.

I thought about one when I was putting the motor together for my Lightning. I ended up just getting a nice OEM one and having it powdercoated.

A real nice example of 5 axis cnc machining. Watching a milling machine produce parts like that is fascinating.
Programming the mill to do that is in itself mind boggling.

They at least include the gasket.

I use to be a CNC programmer but only got to work on a four axis mill and various other milling machines. So I do have an appreciation for what they can do today.
I figured the housing would be one of those things I would never have to buy again. They always corrode inside. I would have bought it last night had Summit had it in stock. Summit is almost $30 cheaper than direct.

Those are real nice looking, buttt I would think you could keep the rust down to a minimum just by using the correct anti freeze and flushing the whole system every once in a while. I think I would rather add another 50.00 towards a nice polished PowerMaster alternator. I bought a t-stat housing from Steve a while back. Pretty sure you could polish it up on your own to match the engine.

I pulled the trigger. The manufacture got back to me and made one for me today. I think its a cool piece, maybe over kill but I like it. Not that I plan on ever selling the car but if i did sell the car or the motor I will remove it and keep it. lol

Those are really nice parts, but not to my taste. A brand new aluminum original style from Scott Drake looks original, does the job, you can access the bolts with an open-end wrench and will last fifty years.
I know I spend excessive $$$ on some stuff that nobody else would spring for, so that is what makes this hobby great. The ability to build it the way we want it.

Very true. All my life I’ve had to build on an extreme budget. I’m at a point where I can spend a little more on things that I never could before. I’m not getting any younger so why not.
I want to purchase the CVS bracket kit. The top of the line one and it’s not cheap. I still find myself looking at the lower end CVS kits but I know I’ll buy the best kit they offer and if I don’t I’ll regret it. I’m having the same issue with wheels. The ones I want will be over $2k without tires. Custom BS to fit my mini tubbed set up.
I’ve sold everything I’ve ever built. This car will not be sold or at least not by me. It’ll go to my son.

I am pretty happy with my serpentine setup. Definitely get the one with the idler spring-loaded belt tensioner.
Only downside(not sure it IS a downside) is the compressor on the passenger side. Vintage Air makes a kit with hardlines for it, but 14 week leadtime. Still waiting to get it.

That thing looks snazzy!!
Is there a big need to have 15 and 45 degree option?? Just wondering.
No part number for my FE either.

I look at thing much different since retirement as I have to ask myself (do I really need it) and does it add real value.
I just like to get the car out when the weather nice and when nobody looking, do some nasty stuff and not worry if the shiny stuff.

I had to replace the one for my car. I had taken the the vacuum switch and the emission checkers chewed me out for it. I had to remmind them it was out of date for emissions stuff. I bought a chrome one without the boss and no comments since.

I haven't dug to deep yet on the AC but my current plan was to go with classic air. They have a shop north of me and I figured I would have to make all custom lines. Which bracket system did you go with? I do not see me needing AC lines any time soon so the lead time would not be an issue.

15 is found on the later model mustangs.
I would contact them and I am sure he could make one for the FE. I think the FE engines are making a come back.

REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
