Re: Anybody got a link to rear end tag decoder the one that you type the

I have a 3.00 ratio in mine behind the original 4 speed.
The acceleration is good and the highway cruising is good. I find that the 3.00 is perfect for me.

Re: Anybody got a link to rear end tag decoder the one that you type the

I like 3.25 with O/D in 4th, 1st is definitely not a granny gear and 4th gives me 1950 rpm at 70 mph with 22-24 mpg on the flats and that’s with a 331ci engine.

I have a 3.35:1 first gear in my 5 speed.

Never heard of 3.35!

the gear set in my 5 speed is a 3.35:1 first gear and the 5 th gear is 0.68:1 ratio standard for 90-93GT a 2.95:1 first gear would be better i am told....the 3.35:1 is pretty steep.   The gears in my rear end is 3.00:1

Re: Anybody got a link to rear end tag decoder the one that you type the

Billy,  I, too, have a T5 with a 3.35 first and 3.00 rear end.  That first is way too low for my taste.  Back when I had the top loader I had a 2.95 first that was perfect.  I got my T5 on a deal for $1k, so I could not turn it down.  Even then I did not like starting off.  I still don't.  But I have looked for trannies with the higher ratio with no luck.  And even gear sets are hard to find.  Maybe someone here can point you in the right direction.

I will see how it does with the new engine before I change the rear gears I may just get a gear set put in my rear and just leave it open instead of going posi.

Re: Anybody got a link to rear end tag decoder the one that you type the

From the Tremec T-5 data sheet I have, the 3.35 first gear T-5 was used in a 1999 Mustang with a 3.8l V6.
