Kudos guys! I'm thinking there should be two happy fellers in that pic, why no smiles?
You got room to park that new 65 in Canyon Lake?

Nice car . . . ya gonna flip it?

The plan right now is engine, trans, rear end, beakes, suspension, and new interior. Might leave the outside as-is for the NOS281 effect. Maybe get some license plates with NOS282 on them.
Just hope it doesn’t vibrate
I cannot even start on it for probably a year.

Steve, I know you will have fun with this car. Your time-line to get it on the road is much faster than mine was. Getting Anna's car built is starting to get moving finally. Thanks for the ideas on that project.

It’s a race!
Just like when Mr Tim and I were building our fastbacks in the early 90’s

Ron68, I look forward to sharing info with you. Since I plan on running the three deuce setup, I may not need that kickdown assembly yours is missing. Might swap it for a 66 style gas pedal assembly that has the downward facing lever for the C4 kickdown cable. Got one of those to trade?

Nope, don't have one of those, but I did come up with the kickdown rod and the lever on the transmission that goes with it. I ordered the spring and small bracket that attaches at the valve cover bolt, so I might have all I need to put it together - what would be nice would be a picture of the complete linkage all hooked up. It's an early 65 configuration. The bellcrank for the kickdown has three arms on it, and I'm not sure what hooks up where. The only picture (diagram) of the system shows only a two arm setup.
It seemed less work to find the rod and lever than to have to swap over the pedal assy, then find the other carburetor rod, cable and stuff to hood up the 66 style throttle system. Wish me luck.

I always hated all the extra garbage on that 65 setup. The 66 cable at the bottom really simplifies things.

WOW . . . . that sure looks like a cobbled up contraption, can’t believe Ford actually did that.
They fixed that pretty well on the 68 with a much simpler set up. I actually had to cut the kick down lever off that on mine for the AOD. The TV cable for the transmission connection is at the carburetor.
Were the 67’s V8 like the 66?

66-68 used same kickdown linkage

Nice looking project. I’ve always wanted to restore a convertible.

Well, if that is for a 65 convertible - then what the hell do I have installed? (See pictures) FYI - the 221 that was in the 65 I have was pulled by my late brother in law and it also has that same bracket/bellcrank assy as is shown on the picture of the 289 he replaced it with. I'm hoping that the rod and crank I got will work.

Does anyone have a picture of this setup complete with the rod and spring installed on the bellcrank?

I must have missed something. Butt, why all this "kickdown linkage" talk??
A 4R70W doesn't need any of that "kickdown linkage".
