Been doing some “refreshing” of the engine compartment of my 65. Cleanup of the compartment, re-doing all the grounds, painting, installing a missing cowl brace rod. Replaced the original battery tray with a later model one after cleaning up some corrosion where an older battery had boiled over. Installed and adjusted the missing kick down rod after installing the correct throttle rod and bellcrank. I also replaced that broken transmission mount. Pulled the seats and redid the tracks.
It’s been a good project during the winter months - and a labor of love as I work towards completing what my late brother in law started.

Thanks - it has taken me about three weeks - cleaning those hard to reach areas wasn't fun, then painting and reassembly of everything I took off to redo. Being retired, I can spend more time on the project than if I was working. I'm going to work on the front grille area next, then the interior, then I will tackle the worst area - the undercarriage. At least the exterior is in good shape, and I have already done the trunk area - replaced the trunk lid seal - old one was rock hard. My biggest pain is that I have a seep at the shift shaft on the transmission - that will require dropping the pan, removing the valve body and having to remove the shaft to replace the seal. I rebuilt the C4 that I had in my 68 years ago so I know the drill - but that was on my workbench - so that will be fun.

Every time I see a really nice STOCK engine compartment I look under the hood of the Heap and think, "Looks like someone backed a dump truck load of junk up to it."
I'm really learning to appreciate that simple, clean look.
