proportioning valve

If your swaping a single master cylinder for a dual with front and rear drums, do you need a proptioning valve?


I made enough money to buy Miami, but pissed it away so fast

I think the prop valve should match your braking system which in your case it still does.  I would think you should be fine.

No prop valve on a factory drum/drum setup.
Use a m/c with r/p valves front and rear.

No proportioning valve needed on cars with all drum brakes.


Money you enjoy wasting is NOT wasted money... unless your wife finds out.

Also, some four wheel disc systems may not require a porp. valve.  I have 12.5 GT discs on the front and 11.25 Explorer discs on the rear.  After a lot of messing around I found that no porp. valve works perfect.  I'm assuming that due to the difference in disc diameter and pad swept area the leverage is about perfect for front to rear braking percentages.  It will not lock the rears and the fronts will put you through windshield.  I had to do a semi-panic stop coming home from the Bash last year and couldn't have been happier with braking performance.

I needed a adjustable pro po valve to dial in my MKIII rear / stock front disk.
