Spark plug length boot question

I bought some cut to fit msd wires and had to return them.  The spark plug boots were to short and rested against the header flange.  The cheap Autozone fox body wires have a longer boot and don't hit the headers.  I don't recall seeing anything listed on boot lengths when looking at wires.

Im trying to find out if the ones on eBay MS posted a while back in my old post have the longer boots and or what others may have a longer boot.

Re: Spark plug length boot question

Correct wires have a 135 degree angle built into the boot. Ones with 90 degree boots are for bowtie engines.

Re: Spark plug length boot question

I have MSD 8.5mm wires, # 35383 on my 351W.  These have the flexible spark plug boot that can be bent to clear headers, or whatever may be in the way.  (and they were a lot less expensive when I bought them in 2007!)

After thinking about it today I may have ordered the 90's.    I need to look at what I returned.

BobE, I need to look into those wires.

Re: Spark plug length boot question

OReilly's sells a set with the angled boot for about $30.  I ran these on my 351 for a lot of years.  I don't know if they are the gender you need for the distributor end but thought I'd offer the input.

Re: Spark plug length boot question

Looks like I had ordered 90 degree boots and not the 130.  Ugh.

Re: Spark plug length boot question

Make sure you can't use the 90's !....It depends on the fitment of the header-to-block. My el-cheapo Patriot Headers work better with the 90's on all butt-two plugs. Just FYI.......

That was my mistake.  I had ordered the 90's instead of 130.  I had sent the 90's back a couple weeks back because they hit the headers.
