I FINALLY got another video up on my 393W build

It had been way too long inbetween videos even though I had a good excuse.  Mustang Steve gave me some engine building tips and the video is on that and other possible "mistakes" that can cause issues when putting an engine together.  I hope to actually get the thing put together in the next couple days. https://youtu.be/xkN5i8cphMI

Re: I FINALLY got another video up on my 393W build

I will own up to a big mistake I made when I put p heads on the 289 block.   I did not check and drill for proper steam hole location.    Early blocks have them at 12:00 oclock.   Later blocks Ford moved then to 1:00 oclock.   The Ford head gaskets have the holes for both locations.   I realized my mistake in time, but it's still cost me an extra set of gaskets.  There is a lot of debate online whether it even needs to be done.  I am in the i believe it does corner.   Ford put them there for a reason..

I too it seems like have had never ending health issues that have delayed me getting things I want done, so I get that!

I want to finally get my engine put back the way I want it with my custom valve covers and air cleaner.
The second of mistakes I made on this engine.   When I "refreshed" it, I should have put the crankshaft sleeve on.  I did switch from rope seal to a rubber seal and I remember the diagonal lines in the crankshaft oil area.  I realise how that is just going to eat that seal to pieces.   I have those parts as well.

I have all the parts, now I need an apprentice!

If multiple things can go wrong, the one that will go wrong will be the one that causes the most damage.

I'm really impressed with the time and effort it takes to put these great videos together.   You really do a great job at explaining things.

Really nice video Day, glad to see you back at it. I don't think I've ever heard about those tips, thanks.

Greg so sorry to hear that.  I hope your health issues resolve.  Nothing worse than not having good health!!

Thank you so much.  I try to make it concise... sometimes I talk too much.  Thankfully most of that gets cut in editing

Thanks!!  MS gets most of the credit.  Other than the tip about installing the cam dry then lubing it in the block and the tip about using plastigauge on all 5 mains at the same time to insure the crank isn't bent the rest was all MS.

Great video!  Thanks for doing that.

I have to ask - have you ever driven your Mustang since putting the IRS in it?  I'd love to know how it works out in the real world.

Re: I FINALLY got another video up on my 393W build

Great job, Daze.
I appreciate the credit.
Hopefully you have a tapered ring compressor tool.  Those are the ONLY way to install pistons. Thumb pressure is all it takes and they never mess up. I have them in stock sizes and an adjustable one. If buying again, I would just get the adjustable one.

Glad you like the video.  As to the Mustang it has been on the back burner and has not been on the road other than to drive it on and off the lift.  Too many projects not enough time.  Actually part of the problem has been my YouTube channel.  I started the channel because my business was seeing a decline in customers due to the fall of forums.  Now with my YouTube channel up and running my business has picked back up BUT shooting video and editing video takes a ton of time.  I miss the days when I could be working on a project and stop every now and agin to take a picture, then write an article after the fact on the project.  WAY simpler than video.

I am feeling better! I will have limitations the rest of my life but am now at "normal".  should hear it roar to life  sooner rather then later.  I have a stock(ish) 351w on the engine run stand that I need to fire up to test the Frankenstein EFI. THEN the 393 will go on the run stand and start breathing fire
