What is it worth?

1966 Fastback. I inspected the car and could only find surface rust. Ebay ad states floor pans rusted and need to be replaced. I did not see this and will inspect the car again. Original owner's manual is in the glove box. Ebay ad: (OMR) 1966 Ford Mustang Fastback V8 Cylinder Automatic NO RESERVE | eBay . I may bid on this car, clean it up and drive it as is. There is a 9 % additional buyer's fee.

I recently purchased a 2013 Victory Cross Country for a song from this seller and just rode it 840 miles through Death Valley two weeks ago; however, I don't think this 66 will sell for a song.

I took photos and will share. Don't know how to post photos here, but can send the same via text.

Re: What is it worth?

Not sure.  If it were a '67-'68 I think $50k all day long.  My guess would be maybe $35-$40k.

Re: What is it worth?

I think $25k is about right based on the pictures and the description.
The car exterior looks very good, did you check for any bondo?  Or indications of a re-paint?
The ad indicates it doesn't run well and doesn't drive ... could be an esay fix, ot something significant, be careful.
I'd say if the floorpans need to be replaced, that is a big job for an individual to do, and costly to pay someone else to do it.
As the saying goes "buyer beware".

Re: What is it worth?

This car bid out at about $25,500, but is back on the auction block which means the buyer failed to show with cash and I am back in the market.

Re: What is it worth?

Or maybe it didn't meet the reserve?  Remember, even if there is "no reserve" on the auction it doesn't mean the seller doesn't have a reserve in mind and won't shut down the sale if it isn't reached.  IME the whole "no reserve" thing is a marketing ploy.

Re: What is it worth?

My recollection is that the auction was "no reserve". The present auction is "no reserve". I have bid on many items listed by this auction house and although not a high bidder, the winning bid was less than actual bids. This seller requires that you contact them directly if you are bidding so they can verify  the bidder.Could be the seller is bidding on its own items.

I have bid on items from other sellers and have been outbid, only to have the item come back to me at my bid price. There is a lot of room for manipulation of price on ebay, so I bid with caution. On the other hand I have found and purchased parts that I would not otherwise have located at very reasonable prices.

Really it just takes one person to be in collusion with the seller, or the seller to have multiple accounts.  Its a trick as old as eBay.  It was happening back in 2000 when I first started using eBay.
