Neato! When I had my fiberglass hood the light-weight springs would let it blow closed at car shows and such. I looked at doing a prop rod but it was too much work and I thought that it looked kind of cheesy. So I made a couple of rods that I would put on the hinges where the springs normally reside to keep it open. They worked really well and were easy to make and store inside the car.

I recall reading about this method but I don't remember where I read it. I'm pretty happy with what I've got. I have thought about adding a ball end to the rod then it would lock into the hood pin I have.
