I sent my carb to him and he worked his magic on it....I got it back put it on and also reworked a set of the 85 GT powered by Ford valve covers bonding the spacers on them painted them Hammer Black and polished the fins out chrome. I fired it up and seem to run a lot better. I drove it down the road and it still was sputtering at low speeds. So I drove back home parked it a few days. I figured I would make sure I put the plug wires on good and when I was checking them I noticed they were not loose on cap so I went to passenger side and 3 and 4 were not even on the plugs at all so I was like thats a good sign and I put them on and walked over to driver side and number 6 was off too....so I put it on and fired it up.....SOUNDED LIKE A WHOLE DIFFERNT BEAST. I came out of driveway a little sideways it is a BEAST now. In my defense it was almost dark the day I tried the first time and I just forgot to put the wires on. I found out it will chirp the tires in 2nd and 3rd pulls strong with the 5 speed and the Eaton tru trac with 3.55 gears.
The Carb came from Holley refurbished looked brand new and has probably been my problem this whole time. Steve rebuilt it changed the front jets, fixed the body that had a crack in it where the rear overflow tube is and also the rod that opens the rear butterflies was bent.
THANKS SO MUCH STEVE I WAS READY GIVE UP.

Nothing better than figuring something out and the outcome is even more rewarding.

Yes I was super excited.

I am pleased to have been involved in this major improvement.
I understand all too well the feelings that pile up when the car just won’t do right. That is why I agreed to rework the Holley. Now, get ready for that Tx trip.

Had that same spark plug wire issue last year. I had bought some summit racing spark plug wires and found after the fact they have issues staying on the spark plugs. Mine had come off on 5 and 6 spark plugs and because of the AC lines and wiring I couldn't visually see that they weren't on. The engine seemed to run ok but I kept hearing a ticking noise in that area. I thought it was a valve problem or issue with the engine. It was the plug wires sparking on the headers. I pulled them off and bought another set of wires and that made a huge difference in how it ran.

REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
