Hmn, it will be interesting to see how the changing of angles affects the vibration. Clearly there was something going on with the shaft, so hopefully that 100% fixes it.

I will be driving from Canyon Lake, Tx to Montrose, Colorado next week. Any speed below 80 it is smooth as glass. I will just have to keep the speed down.
I think my ultimate plan to set the engine at zero, rear end at zero and shaft sloping down about two degrees should fix it, but I don’t feel up to redoing things right now. The 4° rear shim on it right now is bolted to the spring pack and that will require more effort than just loosening u-bolts and removing shims.
Right now am hoping the Apple car play 7” screen gets here before Monday so I can have a bigger nav screen on the trip. I plan to mount it in the console door in the 66.

I just went thru a similar problem. I had a cyclical vibration that started at 2,000 rpm and increased after that. Hard to describe but the pitch went up and down continuously. New tires. I checked the T5's output shaft angle and it was down 5 degrees, but the 9" pinion angle was only up 0.5 degrees. So nowhere near parallel. I installed a 3/8" shim under the T5's mount that decreased the angle to 4 degrees down. That's as far up as the T5 will go. BTW, measuring the downward angle off the crank pulley gave the same result, which makes sense to me. I then made some wedges for the leaf springs that are 0.25" thick, tapering down to 1/16". This increased the pinion angle to 3.5 degrees up. The vibration is now almost gone. My driveshaft is an aluminum one from an Explorer so I assumed it was already well balanced but will check that next.

Are you going to the North Olympic Mustang Club show in Port Angeles on May 3rd? A group of us from Mustangs Northwest are going.
