The speedo/odo on my 65 GT guage cluster does not work. Gear on bottom end of cable looks fine, top end of cable spins when I spin the bottom gear. I have a spare, working 66 gauge cluster. Does anyone know if the speedometer from the 66 cluster can be swapped into the 65GT cluster? I'd prefer not to use my remaining bash thrash time on experiments. I'd like to know for sure before I dismantle 2 clusters.

Should be the same speedo. The clusters are identical

if you spin the brass fitting on the back of the speedos quickly by hand and the needle moves, the speedo is working and your prob lies elsewhere.

Ammeter is quite different, but I'm more interested in speedo at the moment.![]()

I keep a 3 inch long upper piece of speedo cable in my tool box to check speedo operation!

there's another plastic gear in the tranny housing ,, the cable gear mates into it. mine was part stripped and made speedo only work part time. just another place to check

Yeah.... I aimed my flashlight up in there when I pulled the cable gear out and told myself I need to rule everything else out first. ( I've got that T5 on the shelf and don't care to pull the T10 tail shaft housing) Gonna give the back of the speedo a quick spin tonight (thanks barnett468!), and then determine where to go next. I know my spare speedometer works, but if it's the T10 drive gear, I'm gonna have to fix the cig lighter to use my gps speedo for the BASH trip.
