Not a Mustang project, but a new Ford project is knocking on our door.

I have a '34 Ford 2 Door Sedan that has fallen into our laps for a project car. We went and looked at it tonight. Shell of a car with all of the parts sitting on a trailer.
Do I need another project?????
I am still trying to figure out how much to offer the lady. It is her dead husbands project. She was one of the ladies we helped with the tornado clean up.
It has a Cheby 350 but that has zero chance of going into a Ford. No tranny. All the sheet metal pieces appear to be there.
I am thinking about offering her 1800-2000 for the whole thing, Too much?

If you got it that cheap your doing good. It already has a chop and looks solid

If price is right and you can store it, would make a nice project..

Re: Not a Mustang project, but a new Ford project is knocking on our door.

I have done street rods prior to doing a Mustang and except for the '32 Fords, the '33's and '34's are the next best  sought after street rods.  The body and frame, from what I can see alone is worth 5 to 7K.  Buy it before you loose it.  It is easy $35,00 car when finished.  My opinion.  I would buy it in a flash for 5 to 7K.  Jerry

Re: Not a Mustang project, but a new Ford project is knocking on our door.

That is a great find...all steel with a trailer full of parts,chopped...the chop is worth a minimum of 5K...that 34 is worth 10K to 15K easy with very minimal rust....I would do a 9" triangulated 4 bar in the rear and 4 bar dropped Super Bell straight axle in front.....jj

Re: Not a Mustang project, but a new Ford project is knocking on our door.

I would definitely buy it, if only to flip it. I'd spend $5k on that today. Sedans are not as popular as coupes, but 2 doors are easier to sell than the the 4 door.  The guys on Jalopy Journal seem to know the market pretty well if ya cared to run it by them.

That there is my dream car! If I got that for under 5 gs I'ld think I died and went to heaven. It would be an excellent candidate for a Lincoln12 cyl flatie or at least a flatie 8.

Re: Not a Mustang project, but a new Ford project is knocking on our door.

A chopped 34 sedan is just scream'in for a blown big block(anything! maybe a Hemi or SOHC) with two 4's on top. The deal you're gett'in could make the big motor thang a little more affordable. You would certainly be a big hit at the MSBB's!
"I'd-be-your-new-best-friend" if I could get a ride in that puppy!
Of course the frame would need to be boxed with BB power.
I'd like to see a pair of "big Mickey's/HUGE Mickey's" on the rear and some old skool Halibrand mag. spoke rims on the front.
Who need front brakes with that much meat on the rear with discs?

Did you ask her what she wanted for it first?  She may have a number in mind which could be what the
others are indicating would be fair.   Be prepared.

Re: Not a Mustang project, but a new Ford project is knocking on our door.

She has been quiet for the past couple of days. So I backed off. My first amount I offered was lower than she thought it was worth. I can go a little higher, but if she is too high I will pass on the buy to some others.
She has not given me a number as of yet. I think they are trying to find a definite answer on what it is worth. She said her late husband spent more on it than what I offered. Well I can't account for past mistakes on his part, but she does have some emotional connection to the shell.
Zero title means jumping through the Texas Bonding title hoops again. I have zero clue if a 34 Ford even has a Vin plate somewhere.

Re: Not a Mustang project, but a new Ford project is knocking on our door.

She just came back with $3500 for everything and she does have the title. The title alone saves time effort and about $800 in the title process.
Think we are going to do it.
This comes with 3-4 doors, and extra top and all the front sheet metal and radiator cowl. Plus a new front end he had started to install.

Re: Not a Mustang project, but a new Ford project is knocking on our door.

A 34 like that needs an..."exposed engine" with lotsa chrome.  Coyotes make gobs of power butt definitely ain't "old school cool"!
What was her husband planning on? Be pretty neat to carry on his dream(unless it was a Chivalay)
429 Shotgun  looks pretty cool under a GMC blower!!!!!!!

Re: Not a Mustang project, but a new Ford project is knocking on our door.

Mike, it looks like the frame was narrowed up front. I still need to sit down with her and her sons and find out the direction her husband was heading. I am not a big fan of the Rat Rod look. Natural Patina isn't horrible, but my OCD makes me want to have a clean car. The 3 inch drop on the top looks really professional. Not sure how far he got on the doors. I know one was cut, I saw four doors, so he bought extra stuff. Car isn't in my possession as yet, so I don't count my chickens.....

Re: Not a Mustang project, but a new Ford project is knocking on our door.

Sal...Thats called "pinching the frame" to get a streamlined look...getting all of the frame under the hood...still room for a nice Ford FE 427...might have to dimple the side panels a little...very cool.....jj
