We did it this time and need advice

Replaced a 66 roof  which had a vinyl top and swiss cheese holes under neath First time for doing this .Alas the top of the windshield needs to have a half inch off the top or it won't go in The car has a beautiful white with blue stripes paint job on it now so no way can the top be re-positioned .  I need expert help here .

Re: We did it this time and need advice

My level of expertise on that is to start over and do it right.  The side windows are going to not fit either.

You can get the roof repainted a lot easier than trimming a windshield or vent window frames and side glass.  Have you checked the rear window yet?

Next time, measure everything about 43.5 times and make alignment measurements with marks about 6" apart on the A pillars so you can duplicate the correct dimensions.

I would not even CONSIDER trimming a windshield to "fix" your problem.

Money you enjoy wasting is NOT wasted money... unless your wife finds out.

Re: We did it this time and need advice

Got a replacement rear glass(old one) and a new carlite windshield . the original rear glass was not mfg correctly but the replacement went no problem. The windshield was actually 3/8 of an inch shorter up and down and it fit also . after much angst problems solved
