I have a 302 in a 66 with a AOD Tranny . I have a vibration That I can't find ,I had the drive shaft checked and still have the vibration at highway speed once I reach the speed limit ..............anyone have any suggestions ?

Correct driveshaft pinion angle? Tailshaft housing bushing not worn? What yoke are you using on the driveshaft? Did you have any like vibration prior to the transmission swap?

It would be helpful to provide more details ... what speed does it start, does it get continue to get worse as speed increases, does it drop when the tranny goes into OD? Try to isolate the vibration source from driveshaft RPM and engine RPM. Maybe rear gears/bearings are worn, or axle bearings? Tire/wheel balanced? Check balance weights on the wheels, the stick-on type can fall off.

Start at one of the easiest things first. Do any of the tires have any abnormal wear or bulges? Does it look like there could be any wheel weights that have fallen off or moved?

Are you running the 8 pound transmission tailshaft counterweight? Lots of folks find that counterweight helpful in damping driveline vibration.

X2! Whenever I've had vibrations at speed I've learned to check the tires first. I spent a lot of money years ago on one of my cars trying to fix what turned out to just be bad tires. Often you cannot see the damage that causes this, but once tires are 5 years old or more, regardless of wear or mileage, they are suspect. There is a date code on them that can tell you how old they are if you don't know. After 5 years they start to break down internally and you will get vibration at speed.

it only vibrate once I get off the accelarator

At a specific speed or whenever you let off the accelerator? Is it worse the faster you are going before you let off, or the same regardless?

Once I get to cruising speed in over drive and ease off of it .She starts to vibrate ......

I would probably give that a try. Doesn't sound like tires from what you're describing. Sounds like a harmonic set up due to driveline speed.

I bought mine on ebay... solved my vibration problem with my T5
Here's a link to my vibration thread. It has a picture of the counterweight for the T5... not sure if it's the same for AOD or not.

What kind of engine and transmission mounts do you have? Are your mounts polyurethane or rubber? If they are not rubber, then consider that the reason for rubber mounts is to isolate vibrations. If anyone needs to install the counterweight, then I'd definitely recommend against hard mounts.
