I missplaced (lost) my original manual transmission shift lever for my 70 so I want to replace it with a Hurst. Any one know what the length of the original 70 Hurst lever is? I want to get a reproduction or make one. I have picture but that's all.

3 speed or 4? I have a competition plus for a 4 speed,with T handle I'd would part with.

Thanks for the offer but I don't think that's what I'm after. I want to install the lever onto my T-5 I plan on putting in the car. I want the original 70 thru 73 Hurst shift lever look.

I bought this same handle too cause I liked the way it looked with the reverse lockout feature. Turns out that lock out portion was scratching our hands each time I reached past the shifter!! It now has pieces of rubber vacuum tube on them to prevent scratching us any more.

MDL has a selection of Hurst shifter levers including one listed for 69-73 Mustangs. Might give you a place to start looking. They claim it is very similar in appearance to the production shifter, but fits the T5.

Look on CJ’s for “Hurst shifter lever for T5 for 65-70”. They make a Hurst logoed lever for the T5 that fits the 65-70 cars. I have one in my 66.

In 1993 I originally modified and installed a Hurst shift handle in my 67 when I converted to the T5. It worked great, but I wanted a stock looking 1967 shifter. I was to cheap to buy one of the look-alikes listed above.
My wife ended up getting me the stock 67 shifter for my birthday a few years back. I like it and it looks great, although I could not find a shift ball that would fit the threads on the shifter. I ended up installing a Hurst T-handle that had multiple thread inserts. Works great, says Hurst on the handle and looks period correct.

Very nice Gary. What type of boot is around shifter?

Here is the deal. Buy a Hurst lever designed for a T5. Get one that is the shape you want. You are going to cut it off and drill it to fit your own ergonomic conditions.
Cut it to length, then use two sets of vise-grip pliers to attach it to the T5 shifter stud until you find the perfect position for you. Then mark the bolt holes and drill it to fit.
I bought one from Summit for my T5 1969 coupe and it was so long it hit the steering wheel! Cut and drilled, it worked perfectly. Ebay or a swap meet is a good source for used ones.

I was going for the look but the fit might be more important. Good idea.

Any Hurst shifter lever, for T5 or not, can be cut and drilled to just about any T5 shifter.
Make it comfortable for your reach.
