Sorta the opposite of your Independence Day I guess.

In the end your ancestors got to a new land that allowed them opportunities they would not have had in their native land. More like Thanksgiving than the 4th of July for us, but the end result was eventually the same. Its nice that your day actually commemorates something that actually happened on a specific day in history. Thanksgiving for the US is basically a made up holiday.
