This guy and I are on the same wavelength. Handling wise it does have some exotic stuff in it, but honestly its just the best system you could use. Having run cars with torque arm/panhard rod rear suspensions I can tell you the rear grip and predictability are awesome. A watts linkage is just a smidge better, so he really went all out. The front I'm sure they monkeyed with the geometry, but a classic Mustang has an SLA front suspension. Once you improve the geometry with the Shelby/Arning drop its already handling very close to a new car. This is just up a couple notches because its designed to handle on a track.
A neat car, and from that period when the factories were really turning out some amazing stuff. The early '60s were really the best time for this. Manufacturers got out of racing as the decade went on. The T-bolt, the Hemi Dart, the Superstock Dodges, swiss cheese Catalinas, and race prepped 409s (which were really 427s) were hallmarks of a different era. Acid dipped bodies and every trick in the book to shave weight (including removing the cotter keys from the suspension) showed how far they could take the technology of the day. Many of these cars ran 10s with the tire technology of the day, and could be in the 9s with modern rubber. Sweet stuff, thanks for sharing!
