Re: How is everyone doing in Texas with the storm

My daughter in McKinney gave up after four days of no electricity and went to a hotel. She was fortunate to be able to get a room. She turned off the water at the underground meter and opened up all the faucets.

We lost power here at the lake for a few hours.  Very low water pressure and have to boil it before using it.  Just trying to stay warm.  Drove 45 miles yesterday through the ice and snow to get our scheduled second covid shot.  The all wheel drive in the BMW finally came in handy.  It got above freezing today, but winter storm advisory is in effect for tonight and tomorrow.
I finally had to abandon the flip-flops for socks and leather shoes☹️

Money you enjoy wasting is NOT wasted money... unless your wife finds out.

Youngster in Corpus Christi finally went to a hotel with power after two days(he has 2 boys under 5 )!
He's pretty sure the sub- freezing weather has wrecked his landscape palm trees.
They have never had this cold for this long weather. 3 days with high in the 20's and ZERO wind chill (wind blows ALL the time there)
And to think I've been whinning about all the rain we have been getting!

Pray all is well with  Coupe and family are well. John Dixon( Bolted to the floor ) laid out a simple Generator hook up to the house breaker box I am glad Performed that kept us warm easy Hybrid generator propane and gas used with a transfer switch he  made my parts list and emailed me worked perfectly to say I performed the work 😂 no extension cords and powered home for two days with propane tanks.

Re: How is everyone doing in Texas with the storm

from big spring texas, power off, power on, power off and so is water, water treatment plant issues, power on water on but you can't drink it,(like you could before). water off due to breaks, but the power is on. not going to complain, just trying to look at this through humor, HAVING A CRAPTACULAR DAY! this was the struggles of our fore fathers. the other day it was colder here than Alaska, and a place I called in Penn. be blessed people, come august we will be wanting some of this "seasonable weather". the pull cord on my generator broke, repaired it only to have the complete part brake.  did i mention a craptacular day. LOL

Re: How is everyone doing in Texas with the storm

We are doing as good. Power has been on and off since 2:30 Monday morning and holding steady since mid-night last night!! Water has stayed on so far. We are camping in the living room.

CoupeDaddy, glad I could help out.

Re: How is everyone doing in Texas with the storm

We live East of Dallas in the country and didn't have rolling blackouts until Wed morning. But yesterday (Thursday) it all came back on without issues. My worksite was shut down so I thought I could get some work done on the Convertible. Yeah 10 degrees in the shop says I had better things to do next to the fireplace in the house. It is Texas warmth is coming back soon enough.
