How can parts be listed for 69-97 for 351w’s when there are two different heights?
Enough slop in bolt holes?
Width at bottom of intake on the short side?
16 early and 12 bolt later intakes made me think about this.
Trying to better understand.
Perhaps lack of knowledge of sellers/manufacturers?

The deck height difference isn't that much. The original height was 9.480, the later height was 9.503; that's only a 0.023" difference. I imagine the intake gaskets are capable of absorbing the difference.
As for other differences, I would be careful with manufacturers claiming parts fit a 4 decade span. This is common with other makes too. Fit means a lot of different things. I imagine any 351W head will physically bolt on to any 351W block, and if you have the right heads for the bolt pattern any intake will also work. This is why you really need to do your research when buying parts for an engine.
REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
