MOOG now making complete upper control arm assembly with ball joint and shaft with bushings. $69.99 at Summit (plus you get $20 Summit bucks) or RockAuto $69.
You cannot buy a ball joint and shaft kit for that price.
I ordered a pair for my neighbor’s 65 fastback being converted to v8. Will report after install.

I haven't tried the moog complete arms but I did come across these the other day.
they look nice and look pretty concourse minus a few things.Offline
I have... I bought a set of upper and lower control arms and tie rods from Summit in June of 2017. They have been wonderful in my opinion. No squeaks, no clunks and the nuts have not started coming loose. Looks like they have gone up in price by $9 since I bought my set.
So I will give a thumbs up for Moog

I've been running their complete upper arm now for about 5 years or so, no issues

It will be interesting to keep this post updated. FYI: Moog sold out like all others and their stuff is pretty much now made in China or rebranded. Their reputation on different forums and such has really taken a dive, as has their quality. The only experience I have with this personally is a Moog rubber grease cover didn't last hardly any time at all, and that does resemble one of the major complaints, that the rubbers deteriorate quickly. A quick Google search confirms they just don't have the reputation they once did.
I see recommendations for a Napa premium line, and Mevotech premium line. All the rest is Chinese.

Mevotech, made in Canada, limited lifetime warranty,
Moog made, wherever suits them, not in USA anymore 3 year warranty.
Moog seems to last longer.
Mevotech cheaper.
Take your pick!

Very disappointing news to hear about another company sold off to Ch ch China... I hope the Moog ones on my car last a good while. I still have the original Ford set sitting in a box, so next time around I may rebuild these.

Recieved a pair today and they passed the eye test. Made in Taiwan, body is thinner material at. 120" vs .135" of an original set I have. The shaft bolt area is thicker at .835" vs .820" original.

I bought eight upper ball joints a couple of years ago when RA was closing them out. Just checked...the remaining six are USA made with a K prefix in the #. That should hold me until I don't care anymore.

REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
